He is Zachery

What would your 6 year old do with the $10 that his teacher gave him to pay for the Boy Scouts Fundraiser product she ordered? One would think he would give it to his mother like he was told to. But no, not my Zachery. He had this great idea that since he had $10 in his backpack, he should use it to buy 40 tokens at the after school program and share them with his friends so they could all have fun playing the video games. Can you believe it? So now he is $10 in the hole in his allowance. It just keeps getting better every day!

Husband Day???

I read somewhere that tomorrow is Husband's Day in the blogging world and that we are to showcase our husbands! Well I would not want my fabulous Mark to be left out so here it goes:
He loves me! I love him! He takes care of our family, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. He is the best handy man ever. He has a never ending supply of patience to help with the boys. He filled my love tank last night by rubbing my legs for over an hour. He likes to cook dinner for us. He doesn't mind helping to bag all the pine needles when I rake up the piles. And he never complains when it is getting close (or overdue) for a leg waxing appointment. :-) That's my husband of almost 10 years!

God's Daily reminders

Yesterday was a great day of reminders of why God sent us to live in TX, away from California, our friends, our family, our church, and everything we knew as normal. Some days I must be still and listen to Him remind me of the blessings we have and the ones to come. For now we are enjoying the fireplace we dreamed of, I know, shallow, the beautiful fall colors of the leaves on (and off :-) ) the trees, the changes that are coming with a new president, and the quality family time we have come to love.

When I sit out front to read a book or listen to music, this is the view in front of me. A reminder of God's masterful artistry and wonderful use of colors.
How do you like our fancy firewood holder? In addition to a wood holder we are in need of a fireplace utensil set. Is that what they are called? Anyways, we need one. :-) it is on the growing list.....

Voting.....GO VOTE!!!!!

Voting is much different here in TX. We dropped the boys off at school and there was voting in the gym. So we got in line. I asked the election official if we were in the right place and we were not. He told us where to go, and off we went. We got to the correct polling location, got in line, and were done voting within 5 minutes. There were a couple of differences. The first one being that it is not done on a computer, but on a scan tron type of ballot. The second is that here you have a voter registration card and they check that and don't even ask to see your ID. The third difference is that when you are done, they don't give you that cute little sticker that says "I voted!" I was really looking forward to the sticker. Oh well, we voted and cant wait to see who the winner is. If you don't vote, you don't get to complain when things don't work out the way you would like them to! Have you voted yet?

When he is too quite.....beware

Zachery got out of the shower and went to his room to get dressed. I went in to Mark's room and started rubbing his back. I noticed after a few minutes that Zachery was still in his room and being very quite. When I finished Mark's back rub, I went to check on Zachery. I knocked on the door and he said it was OK to enter. I opened the door and he was sitting on the floor with Pokemon cards all around him, he was organizing them.....stark NAKED. He lost track of what he was doing and even forgot he had no clothes on when he said I could come in. Because of the nature of this post, I have no pics I can show you, but it was sure funny!!

Missing Kenya

Today I received a call from a friend in Kenya. I forgot how much I miss Kenya and her beautiful landscapes, her wonderful people, her amazing wildlife, and the never ending opportunities to serve her people. I miss Kenya tonight, like I missed her the day I left to come home.

I hope to make a trip back someday soon.

The men went camping

The boys had a great weekend and really enjoyed having their dads attention. They also went canoeing, but Mark could not take pics as he didn't want to drop the camera in the water. They both went rock climbing and had a bonfire each night with marshmallow roasting. Great Time!!
